Looking for a rotary cutter

I am new to the site and need a new rotary cutter for my Ford 4000 tractor. I would like to get a 6 ft medium duty bush hog for grass and brush. I was looking at a Brown 472. Not sure on a price yet. Any experience with this unit or something similar? Also looked at a Woods, Bush Hog and Rhino but I believe they are more in price.

A Brown Tree Cutter will set you back around $10k depending on where you purchase it.

I would recommend just purchasing a normal Bush Hog brand or equivalent for around $1500 +/-.

I don't think your tractor would handle a Brown.

I'm looking at the Brown 460 or 472 not the heavy duty tree cutters. I want a medium duty because I don't want to replace it in a couple of years plus it handles stuff up to 2".

I'm sure a Brown will be more than anything else, but they are worth the extra if you are rough on implements.

I also believe that the Brown model will cost more than the other brands that you mentioned. But it is heavy duty-7 guage, and if this is what you want, get it. Try looking at a Land Pride. We run 2 of their heavy duty bat wing models and have had good luck with them. I also run a couple of the Brown Tree cutters with the open back deck. The tree cutter requires at least 70 pto hp plus they weigh around 2400lbs. If the Brown rotary mowers are half as strong as the tree cutters then you can't go wrong. Brown prices the 460 rotary mower at 2500.00. I'd decide what you want and shop around for a used one that is in good shape. The last Tree cutter I bought had been used only a few hours and was able to get it for 4500.00 out the door.
