Search has shifted to maybe a suburban and we will look at Sequoias of the same vintage. The wife has not really been happy with the quality of the Fords we have seen in the $7-9000 range. They all seem to be ragged out. I know thats to be expected in this age range but you have to come across a good one every now n then? The leather seats seem to not hold up well. even ones that have faily nice interiors on every thing else have horrific seats. Maybe its cheap leather?

Our TOY is a 2001 and the leather in it looks 10x better than anything we have looked at. Also i wonder who drives all these vehicles with all the scratches and dings on them? I am fine with a few scuffs and such but so many have bumper corners where someone turned into something my mis judging the clearance?

Lets see how the interrior of the Tahoe looks??

The Sequoia should be similar to the current Highlander we have assuming someone just didnt destroy it. Especially since were looking at sequoias up to 3-4 model years newer in some cases.

When I was looking this spring, it seemed that the Chevy/GMC full size SUV leather seats and interiors held up very well (based on the number of 200-300k mile models I saw with decent interiors) I didn't look at many Expeditions as the ELs I could find were out of our budget and the regular Expedition was too small.
One thing that will probably be missing on a Taho/Suburban is the reflectors on the rear doors (in the doorpanels), they seem to fall out with amazing regularity.
Not a big deal, but someplace for matchbox cars and other small toys to get lost.

Have a 97 EB Expedition love it. No problems at all. Have towed over half it's miles at max GCVW using equipment trailers and RV trailer.

Not sure what years you are looking at ... but the sequoia has the same drive train as my 06 Tundra. My pickup has been pretty bulletproof. I am not one to keep my vehicles clean, but I maintain them, and I have done nothing but routine maintenance. Make sure you look in to the frame recall for the sequoias ... It may not apply since you live in SC.

Good thing we might get snow once or twice a year!!

but how can a suspention issue only show up in the snow?

You wind up with really interesting and uncontrollable four wheel steering.... You will soil yourself the first time it happens.

Were looking serious now at 04 era Sequoias. Have been dissappointed in the Expedetion leather seats we have seen. htere all cracked or rough felling, even on vehicle that have 100k on them? Chevy/gmc seem to be better but i think the wife likes the toyotas better esp after she went and looked at one.

My brother purchased one about that vintage in the last year, they like it. I was only in it long enough to back his boat trailer in at the end of a long weekend, while he drove the boat to the ramp. Pulled the boat out without much trouble.

bought an 04 sequoia. I have only driven it about 60 miles so far but like it. I like the reliability of the toyota. And all the engine issues of the fords had me talked out of it the more i thought about it. We were close on an 04 expidition with the 2v and that was about the only way id go ford. It just wasent clean on the inside. That vintage 2v had the redesigned head to hold the plugs and was not the 3v that sticks plugs. NOt without issues but still!!

The toyota does not have the power or towing capacity that the others have but i am fine with it.

I would have liked the tahoe power and MPG but the wife wanted to stay with toyota. and i am fine with that. Although from what i hear that vintage Tahoe LS series motors is pretty strong.

Have been doing little things like wireing the front map lights to come on as Dome lights as the rear DVD player lights are terrible for illumination. And replacing rear cargo dome light. Fixing the power antennae. and replacing D indicator light on the gauge cluser as it was burned out. I now need to take it to get the bumper repainted and a small dent taken out in the back to get it to look like i want.
