Just started looking For A Gas Compact Tractor with loader and Mid Mount Mower. So far all I have found are diesel. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I think you are on the right track but no new ones are out there yet. Expect that to change in the next 5 years or so as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) replaces diesel as the primary fuel for both agricultural, and over the road transportation. A gasoline engine is easily converted to run on CNG, as they both run on the Otto cycle. The Diesel cycle is different and those engines can not be converted to run on straight CNG. In 5 years, I would expect diesel engines to fetch little more than scrap value. People who just don't know no better, or are forced to because of current needs, continue to buy them up now like hot-cakes however. It sounds like you may have a clue.

Those old Ford gas 2000/3000's were nice little utility tractors that could be easily converted to CNG when the time comes, and still have great parts availability. It also don't take much effort to find one is good shape, as so many were produced. Even today, the higher price of diesel is just barely justified by the improved fuel efficiency compared to gasoline. The cost today to convert a new gasoline powered Ford 1/2 ton, 6-cylinder pickup truck from gasoline to CNG is approximately $4000. Due to the complete lack of any emissions equipment, etc, I would think the cost to convert one of them old Ford 3-cylinder tractor engines would be under $2000. Now if you, as my dad, and many farmers do, have free natural gas on your farm, it don't take much math to show what type of engine should power your tractor.

I don't think such a machine exists current models anyways, last time I saw a gas compact (I think it was more a sub compact) was when Cub Cadet tried to market them. I guess they weren't very popular since no other major manufacturer tried afterwards. But then everyones definition of a compact tractor is different (including manufacturers). Closest thing you might be able to make due in gas and 4wd is gonna be the biggest JD garden tractors like the X575,X585, current X7 series. They can accept a loader, mid mount deck, 3 pth and rear Pto, however they are gonna be spendy. If you can get by without the 4wd then some other brands open up the options, but your still looking at big garden tractors.

Next question, why gas?

My Power Trac is not a "real" tractor, but it is a gas engine, articulated all wheel drive machine that all the attachment mount on the FEL arms with a quick attach system. I have a 25hp Kohler in mine. 60" finish mower, 48" brush hog, 60" power angle snow blade, two different sized buckets and some pallet forks. The factory makes about 40 different attachments for it. I agree, but good luck finding any current information at their website.... it stinks! But anyone that has one has nothing but praise for it. Made in Maine, I believe. All hydro, no gears, no PTO shafts, all implements are hydraulically operated.

When I was a kid on the farm, most of our tractors and pickups ran on propane. It provides less power than diesel, but back then propane was considered a waste by-product and the cost was about 10 cents per gallon. Now the price is ridiculous, although I haven't priced it lately.

My Dad and Grandad both had propane tanks on their pickups, mounted crossways in the bed right behind the cab. They had air chucks on them too, I saw my grandad many times air up a tire with propane whilst smoking a cigarette.

They had flame cultivators too. Propane tank mounted above the toolbar and once the cotton got big enough they would use them. The flame on each row wouldn't hurt the cotton stalk but would kill weeds on the bed where the sweeps couldn't reach.

Check out the Simplicity Legacy XL. Although it is more of a SCUT than a compact tractor, it is available in both gas and diesel.
