What kind of an air hose is flexible with little or no retained "curl"? I need a backup 50' hose and am stumped by the number of hoses and their composition.

I use Dewalt ½" x50 Ft. Premium Hybrid Air Hose. I switched from ¼" to ½" in the shed for the extra volume. It comes in ¼" and 3/8" also.

I bought a length of high pressure fuel hose many years back. It's still going strong and super flexible.
It was pricey however.

Buy once, cry once.

Suggest 3/8 or 1/2 inch in any length as long as its RUBBER.... Have poly lined hose (not one of those little stretchy things) though it works well its not as flexible or forgiving as pure rubber hose.... Sure a pure rubber hose costs a bit more but you get what you pay for...

I don't know if this hose is still available in 1/4 size but I like cloth covered hose for its flexibility and no coiling memory. For small air tools in my machine shop I used air brush hose. This hose is very limber and does not retain coil memory. The hose has a woven cloth exterior. Anyway, I bought a 75 foot length of 1/4 hose about 35 years ago and it has only become kinda stiff the last 5 years or so, but it lives outside. All my airbrush hose is still as limber as when I bought it decades ago. And I use it with all my air tools. I think the woven cloth exterior provides the burst strength for a very flexible rubber lining.

+2 on the Flexzilla. The Hazard Fraud red rubber hoses are limber but degrade after a few years and develop exterior cracks. At my cabin build I have a cheapo vinyl coated hose to get air from compressor then couple that to the Flexzilla for running a Milwaukee framing nailer.

I've been using the Goodyear hoses for a long time, made in USA and hold up extremely well.

The Goodyear 50x3/8 hoses I bought a dozen years ago are just as good as they were when new. I would definitely buy them again and they flex fine when cold too. (y)

I have 50 feet of Goodyear 3/8" black rubber hose. Bought it 38 years ago. Still as good as new. Kept in my workshop - out of the sun - except when used outdoors.

Once you try Flexilla, you won’t want to go back to other brand hoses.
I have air and multiple water hoses, all are a step above others I have tried

That's my choice if I son't find a better one. Is it nice and flexible?
I have used some of the SUPER flexible hoses out there and I'm not a fan of them for my uses. For me, there is a happy medium....to each their own.

Yes, they are very flexible. I have two of them in my shop, and as soon as one of the old rubber hoses springs another leak, it's getting replaced too. Also, they don't take a curly set like rubber hoses do.

The only negative i see is the aluminum fittings, they are much easier deformed when dropped or ran over.

The Goodyear hoses use brass fittings, the flexilla use aluminum.

I'm also not a fan of the aluminum fittings.

I have hose reels in the shop and garage. I use flexible hose, but also these swivels on the hose ends. They help compensate for hose stiffness:
