Looking for a drop spreader for AG lime

Ground buster- that's the one I looked at. Very nice, but at that price I guess I'll dump lime in the back of the RTV and throw it with a shovel. I did a ton that way last year- sweaty and dirty work.

I have a commercial vineyard, with narrow row spacing, so can't use wide bodied drop spreader. A spin spreader with pelletized lime is what I use. True, the pellets cost more, but lime costs are small potatoes compared to other chemical costs. Bought used spin spreader onCL for 75 dollars.

Ok thanks for the info. I can find some that are close to me, but are pretty big. I'm not sure how hard they are to cut down as pulling 10 feet through the woods would be pretty difficult. Thanks again.

Cutting one down shouldn't be too much of an issue. For mine the agitator shaft is two piece and each side is driven by each wheel hub with a split bearing in the middle to remove the shaft if needed. It would be real easy to cut one down to half its size. They are pretty simple in design.

Not sure what your 3-pt can lift but you may want to look at the Herd spreaders, the 750 if your tractor can handle it. Works great for lime, fertilizer and seed.

I restored an old john Deere drop spreader. They are hard to find. Mine was an 8 footer. They also made a 10. And with the added wheel width, it was hard to maneuver in tight spots. And you have to load it with another tractor and FEL. So ended up selling it and now I buy more expensive pellitized lime and use a spin spreader. It's just easier, but more expensive.

Read about some guys who load up their truck and blow it out with backpack blowers! Guess it works for them.

Homemade Lime Spreader

here's some old school plans on how to make your own.

Truck Bed Cargo Unloader
Go and buy one of these truck bed unloaders and run a chain drive to the tire and it will even unload it for you.
