Looking at a IH 444 gas. Pictures look good and it is a one owner tractor, but it has only been used a few hours in the past 6 years he says.
I asked about any problems and he says the brakes are touchy and the 3 point leaks down after a couple of days. As long as the 3 point does not leak down in 10 minutes I'm not that worried about that.
How hard are the brakes to adjust on these tractors?
He also says it has 3600 hrs on a tach that hasent worked in years, and the engine was rebuilt in the 80's. I'm a little concerned about the rebuild.
Anything else I should be looking for?
There is also a 454 close to me, would I be better served to get that one or stick with the 444? It will only be used for light work like mowing, moving hay, and aerating pastures.
