Going to look at a 2003 JD 5105 4WD this weekend. I would like any comments good or bad about this model. Overall the 5105 doesnt seem too bad of a tractor. The only thing I am on edge over is the transmission. This particular tractor does not have a loader. I plan on using this tractor with a rotary mower and field plows. What price range should I be in for a 1000 hr machine?

What kind of transmission would you prefer?

How bit a mower?

How big a plow?

I have an '04 2wd 5105 . Got it new for 13.9. Implements used 6 ft. bush hog, 6ft. disk, 3 bottom plow, grader blade. I use it mainly for grass cutting. The tractor has 200 hrs. on it and the only problem aside from getting air in the fuel lines was the hour meter quit working at 17 hr. John Deere replaced under warranty. These tractors have a pretty high resale value, particularly MFWD with FEL. Check some of them om Tractorhouse.com.

My 5525 is loosing its prime after about a week. It is starting to piss me off. I think it started around the time I changed the fuel filter. I wonder if I screwed a seal up or something.
