I am looking at a 5400, cab, loader , mfwd. I noticed a vibration when engine running. You can feel it on the floorboard quite noticeable. Is this normal? Feels like a balancer in engine gone bad. The clutch also lets out right at top of pedal stroke. Tractor has 2600 hours.

Unfortunatly the cab on the 5400 series tractor was not a great accomplishment for Deere. Kind of a tin can compared to cabs on a 5x10 series tractor so the internal sound levels, vibration, etc kind of just travels up through the cab kind of like a bolt on cab for a compact tractor. Still worth investigating and would see if there is any adjustment left for the clutch pedal.

There should a half inch of free play in the clutch. As ctlguy suggested see, if the clutch can be adjusted.

Is the tractor moving when the vibration occures?

I had a 5400 open station, never noticed any odd vivrations, but your post made remember that at an idle the exhaust stack shook quite a bit but smoothed out at more rpm's. Wonder if it's the nature of a 3 cyl?
