Just bought some new property... under the old collapsed shed I found this. I did a quick search just to see if there was any info on it and it appears that this is MTD's oversees product. It's new home will soon be the county dump... it does make a good place to set stuff though!

Shame to send it to a dump. Guess Tx is too far for a friend who would take it and fix it up. He adores such projects!

Well... I've had a slight change of heart. I think I'll try to get the old dog running. I could use it for pulling stuff around or whatever. The picture actually does wonders for it... it sure seems worse in person. I do have reason to believe it was running about 2 1/2 years ago. I'll think I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Thats Good! I remember being at a yard sale with the wife one day, seeing an old Craftsman sitting behind a garage with a flat tire and no hood on it. I casually ask about the mower thinking my twin boys about 5yrs old at the time would kind of like to have Dad pull them around on it or something...

The owners didn't know if it ran or not but it came with extra parts, plus the hood... The owner said take it home and if ya get it running bring me back $35, A little gas air in the tire and jump start proved successful. that was over 7yrs. ago and now the twins are using it to help ole Dad mow the grass. :( $35 well spent..:)

But it did look much better than your example ... You said, it is a good place to set stuff ...Think of it as a portable work surface with a comfortable seat for breaks...

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal! I'm gonna go try to get her running tomorrow. Once running I'll bring her back home and fix the necessary stuff. I'm kind of looking forward to it now. My goal though will be to spend as little money as possible and none if I don't have to! I'll post an update tomorrow.

Well I confirmed that it runs. It's just not getting fuel. I pulled the carb to go through and have a few other things to do next time I get out that way. It doesn't look like it's gonna take much though... its got flat tires, needs some fuel lines, stuff like that. She should be up and running soon.

It's not an overseas MTD, Lawn Flite was an early MTD product sold at farm stores in the USA. Your prize is circa early 80's, right around the time MTD bought Cub Cadet from International Harvester. It might look bad, but considering it's a nearly 30 year old cheap lawn tractor one could say it's a true survivor... LOL! A lot of collectors like those old opposed Briggs twins (although I don't know why), just the complete running engine alone would likely fetch more $ on E-Bay than selling the whole tractor there.

He's right about the engine. That may be the same one that is on my Simplicity 6216. It is a Briggs I/C (Industrial / Commercial). They are supposed to be built very tough. I had a guy locally who was selling the engine only for about $200.
