Posthole Digger long black bar on Leinbach PHD?????

What is theis long bar for that is stuck through a hole in the gear box and runs the length of the boom? I first thought it was a stand and then thought it was something to change the angle of the auger and stablize it from the tractor seat while diging but does not seem long enough and also seems a little danerous.

Also if the auger suppose to swing freely on the end of the boom? I dug about 9 holes yesterday and it worked great but the auger swings a good bit when you pull it out of the hole to clean the dirt out of the hole.

I would have to say its the stabilizer bar to steady the auger and place it on the center point of your hole.

So there is no adjustment to it i.e leave it just as it is installed. it just stays in the same place all the time correct?
