Logsplitter to crane conversion

That's what a tractor with a loader is for

/ Logsplitter to crane conversion #5
I use my log loader to pick rocks out of my fields. I don't have pictures of it, but I have a "carrier" that fits on the 3 point hitch of my tractor that has a seat. As my wife drives the tractor/truck/bulldozer, I sit in the seat and operate the loader. She spies the rocks and gets close to them as I operate the loader and swing around and pick them up.

In this photo I do not have the seat on back, but rather the winch, but it does show the dump body and picking up rocks. I can pick up 800 pounds at full extension and get a 30 inch rock in the grapple.

But not everyone has one I know. To use a log splitter to move rocks is creative and ingenious. use what you got I always say!

I tried to design my splitter to do multiple tasks,,

D7K_0802.jpg

It seemed like the machine is WAY to capable to only uni-task splitting wood,,,

The one thing I did miss is making it into a crane,,
I may have to re-visit the design of mine,, and possibly work that into the machine!!

Except that it won't work as a crane without a hefty device as a counterbalance.

No counterbalance, but it has outriggers so I use it as a crane all the time. I even used it to pull the engine set out of my bulldozer...it was all it wanted, but it did do it.

I not only use my loader to pick the rocks out of my fields, I pull them right out of the ground.

Just stab the forks down under them, close the grapple and pull the rock out of the ground,

Then pick it up and move it to my wagon,

Once I have a full load, I can pull the wagon home,

and put the rocks where I want them,

Seems like a logical use for a log splitter would be to adapt it to arbor press work.

CAD what is the configuration - purpose of your first pic?

That was originally thought to be a bearing press,,
but, it works well for any press function.

Here it is , configured like the first pic, being used to break the bead on some rusted wheels.

I also like to take advantage of a multiple or "convertible" use opportunity in a build. Some times I get carried away also
