Yes, winching and all type of work in the woods are dangerous, in this situation loose rocks was a problem.
Even trees that is "large" have very little grip on the stone so the use of snatch blocks was difficult.

This is only for firewood, in this area in Norway there is very few real forests.

I use my winch for getting logs out for milling, and for firewood.

Nice pictures, I am partowner of some small forest in the south of Norway but the terrain makes it very difficult to logg with tractor, takes to much time vs hiering a processor and a forwarder to cut and transport it to nearest road.

Do you mill just for your own needs?
Much money to be saved whit your own forest and mill when buliding.

I like the line setup! Those quick release snatchblocks are the best friend to a tractor winch. I ran a farmi for several years in our woods. Fantastic machine. Wish I had it back actually.DSC08238_1.JPGDSC07725.JPGDSC07029.JPG

It was a hopeless terrain to winch in if you had to drag them on the ground, the line was a bit slack but those 20 to 30cm helped a lot.

Pretty much for my own needs. Built several rental houses out of my woods, plus a lot of buildings around my place.....that shop building in the photo above, for example. I will occasionally saw some for neighbors and other folks. I figure the saw has paid for itself many, many times over.

I see you have tied off your saw, just in case. It is a long way down.

Very scenic wood cutting.
