Doing some clearing on my land, was maneuvering about some downed trees... was backing up, heard a very strange noise, followed by spraying liquid.. fearing the worst, jumped down to have a look.. I was glad it was not hydro fluid, but irritated nonetheless that I had a lake of calcium chloride forming under my right rear tire.. limped it to the house... rats. so much for a weekend of tractor play... now I have to figure out where to take this thing.

HAA, welcome to the club! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'm a two time loser, both times the right rear tire. We have a tire service up here that will come out, pick up the tire, repair & refill it and bring it back to you (and they are open Saturday).

It is tubeless? If so, all you should need to do is buy a new valve stem (actually buy two so you have a spare) -- and replace it yourself. If you have an air compressor you are golden!

Yes, it's tubeless, but, I need to get it loaded.. I don't feel like trying to do it myself..

Loaded? I don't understand. Pop the seal on the tire, reach in and remove the old stem -- insert the new valve stem and pump up with air compressor.

I'm not following the story line here. I was under the assumption that since calcium chloride is caustic that is was a normal practice to pump it into a tube to protect the rim from corrosion, am I wrong here?

Kris. sorry to hear of your problem especially after you just got your rig back. I, like others, thought that calcium chloride was very harmful to steel rims which is why I went with wheel weights as I didn't want rusted out rims. I have never noticed the stem guard on any old Fords like the one Sound Guy showed [which is really slick] and now I know why Kubota's and Kioti's have the protectors they do on their wheels.

OK now I am really confused. My TC24 has protectors around the valve stems. Are you saying some of the other NH models do NOT have valve stem protectors? (could there be multiple wheel suppliers? or could this vary by year of manufacture?) Also, don't think that the valve stem protectors actually solve this problem. The two times that the valve stem has broken off while working has happened on the Kubota B2910 and that also HAS valve stem protectors.

SoundGuy; My TC is a '04 model. Checkout my stems. For some reason only the front wheels have protectors. All four are Titans. Wonder why just the front? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
