I believe Norhtern Tool sells one, but you will have to install a PTO driven pump to get adequate flow to run the big cylinder at reasonable speeds. Once you figure the splitter, the pump, and freight for both, it gets expensive.

I saw one at a state fair once that mounts to the PTO and is shaped like a tapered screw. It has an arm to keep the log from spinning 360. It was cheap and split the wood fast. It looked like a good way to get a log up the side of your head though.

Do they still make that same type tapered screw splitter to mount on one wheel of your car or pickup?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif First one I ever saw was at the State Fair in Dallas many, many years ago; just jack up one rear wheel (few, if any, front wheel drive vehicles in those days), remove the tire and wheel and mount that thing on there (of course you couldn't use a vehicle that had a limited slip differential). I don't think they went over too well./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

<font color=blue>""The "Stickler" is designed like a giant wood screw that bolts to the hub of a car or truck...""<font color=black>

This is the first sentence of the stickler site that states it is designed like a giant screw, but guess it does looks like a conical inclined plane. Big screw is probably what you get. I have known of several purchased and tried over the last 20+ years, but no one I know continued to use it for very long. The only one who used his for a while, was one who fixed it up on a platform (elevated the vehicle on a loading platform) so the wood was split at waist high level. Crawling around on the ground or bent over to split gets old real fast. Would guess one on a PTO would have a better height than a car wheel.

Will be interested in hearing of what your results are.
