log splitter relief valve adjustment

I'm trying to adjust the relief valve on an old prince valve for a log splitter.

I took the pipe plug out expecting to see an adjustment screw but there was a spring with a seat and a ball in the bottom with another ball seat that appears to be adjustable. but the spring also had shims.

I was thinking I need to adjust the height of the bottom seat but I could just add shims. anyone familiar with this setup.

I guess it would be easier to add shims maybe the bottom seat is not adjustable and just has slots to be able to replace it.

the other problem is that the spring sits on the pipe plug so I could just tighten down the plug more to adjust the height of the spring seat but it was already really tight and I'm worried if I go farther I will crack the housing.

i figured the shims were there for a reason so,
I switched out the shims and did the final adjustment with the pipe plug. got the relief valve to open at the same time as the tractor valve so I gained 200psi on my splitter.

the ball seat at the bottom (screwed into the valve) was not loose so I didn't play around with it.

You fixed it before I saw it to reply....great. Shims are how they adjust pressure when there is nothing but a ball bearing, a spring and shims.
