John Deere 4300 Compact Utility (1998)
I own a (1998) I beleive JD 4300 Compact Utility tractor without rear hydraulics and am thinking about a Wallenstein 3 pt. hitch log splitter attachment. Can anyone advise me on whether the JD Power Beyond is the best way to go or a PTO pump from Wallenstein? I am also thinking about the Wallenstein Backhoe attachment as well.
Thanks
Scott

Welcome to TBN:D
The PB kit would fit the bill perfectly, and is cheaper that the PTO pump.

That's great thank you. Am I right to assume that I will still be able to lift and lower the 3 pt hitch with the log splitter working and hooked up to the PB?

Thanks

Yes. There are two returns with the PB kit, one feeds the 3PH-and one goes directly to the tank for use when a backhoe is mounted. Diagrams are available at www.jdparts.com

Dont mean to dig up a super old thread, but it's related I think....

the PB kit on a 1026R, would this also support a wood splitter? Something like the WX310?

Yes, but it will be SLOW:thumbsup:

We've discussed 3 point splitters in a number of other threads. The 1026 will have between 3 and 4 gpm available. With a two way splitter and a 3" cylinder like my PowerHorse 13 ton, you will be able to make a split every 10 seconds or so. However, with a one way 4" cylinder splitter like the the WX310, it will be way too slow.

If you need the larger capacity on a small tractor, you will need a PTO pump or a stand alone splitter.
