I find if I can get my cursor in the user name box before the pop up starts you can still login even with the pop up is on the screen. Just finish typing the hit enter.

There is a small box [ ] to click to stay logged in. Before you hit enter. It's a permenant cookie till you manually clear it. No more popup.
