If you are ever in ther area of Cass West Va and like trains. Ride the old Shay logging locomotive to the top of the summit. Another good carbon foot print. The smell of it really takes you back in time.

 Very true! Somedays a guy needs to bring a set of spurs and a bull rope with him!

Ive had to sit and wait for the Big Boy and the Challenger to go by a few times. They are more like a living breathing animal than machine.

They are more like a living breathing animal than machine.

I couldn't have said it better.
When I was a kid I used to wait for SP's cab forward articulateds to come over Altamont Pass. They were real ground-pounders.

The B&O Railroad Museum is definitely worth the trip.

Uniquely, there are lots of hands on display engines in the museum, where if you want to pull that lever, your welcome to. I guess they figure you're not going to be able to break anything on them anyway.

When I was there, about 15 Years ago, a friend and I spent about an hour, (unsupervised), in the yard. We were opening up compartments, and going in and out of some of the modern un-restored loco's, no one seemed to mind.
