It is time for a good grease gun for my tractors and implements. Does anyone have thoughts on the LockNLube Easy-Prime Lever Grease Gun? Is it worth the ~$90 or so it costs these days? Or, is there something better or similar for less money worth considering? I have a $30 Almetite today which is okay but, nothing to get excited about. The Lock'n'lube connector on their grease guns seems like a worthwhile feature. The suction feature with Easy Prime also seems attractive but, I wonder about losing grease in the tube when hot outside and stored vertically or on its side, the old plunger-style grease guns at least kept the mess mainly inside the grease gun.

TIA,
Sid

Lock and lube makes a great grease gun, but I wouldn’t spend $90 on a manual gun. HF typically runs a special: buy a Hercules battery and charger for $99 and get a free tool. One of the free tool options is a Hercules electric grease gun that is fantastic.

I have the foot operated grease gun with the long tip.
Works great

I have a LockNlube grease gun, works great if the fat tip fits on the fitting but it very often doesn’t fit because the tip is to fat

I've had a LocknLube Easy-Prime Grease gun for over a year now and had no problems with it. Works as advertised and does not leak grease out the bottom no matter what position I store it in or use it in. It ships with 6 (if I remember correctly) plastic followers that go into the open end of the grease gun. Those followers seal the bottom perfectly and as you pump grease the follower moves up, following the grease. If I haven't used it in a while it will lose prime but just follow the instructions to get it going again.

Is loading a grease gun that difficult?
Minor airlock sometimes, cured by opening the vent screw.
If you're going through multiple tubes a day but for the couple a month... in the summer.

Well, I bought the LNL coupler only and found out the body was too large in diameter to fit in the recessed openings on my loader so for me, it's worthless. Tried a McNaught as well and it's worthless as well. While it fits, it won't stay coupled so I'm back to the standard diameter adjustable jaw coupler and the LNL and McNaught take up space in the tool box.

+1 for the Lock N Lube connector. I have a battery-powered Milwaukee and it works okay, when the battery dies I'll replace it with a manual grease gun. I can easily buy 3-4 guns for the cost of a battery. If you don't have a lot of greasing to do (e.g., multiple tractors, combines, bulldozers, etc.) I think any ol' gun will get the job done. For my money, the $90 LockNLube is not better (let alone 3X better) than the $30 Alemite.

My biggest mistake was using the rubber hose at the end of the grease gun for everything. Now I have two grease guns, one with the metal tube, the other with the rubber tube. I use the metal tube on 90% of my fittings. It's just a lot easier and faster.

I've thought about trying the lock and lube fitting, but every time I have a fitting that wont take any grease, I've been able to remove it, clean out the hard grease in the threaded area, and install a new fitting with good results.

I've also thought about getting a cordless grease gun. They might be worth the money. I bought several pneumatic grease guns a decade ago, and hated them. They work, or they don't work. Once they stop working, they are pretty much worthless. For me, it seemed to be a repeating pattern, so I gave up on them.

I have three grease guns right now. My favorite is the one I bought off of Amazon. I think it's called Armilite, or something like that. When looking at them on Amazon, I bought the one with the most positive reviews. The others are from Walmart, and Napa. Both of the other two work fine. One has the rubber hose on it, the other has different grease in it.
