Dealer Local dealer?

Thank you all for the responses to my other post, "Price check for NY". Wallace definitely has some great prices. I thought I start a new discussion about buying local or travelling a distance to get the tractor. I can pick up the kioti I am looking for locally (19 miles) for $850 more. Actually, it will be delivered for free and first oil change is free. So what. Big deal. I certainly can manage an oil change.

But, leads to another thought. Will local dealers generally perform warranty work on tractors bought somewhere else. I assume they do regular maintenance for a nice fee. Is there a lot of maintenance with the Kioti's. I am using an Ford 9N now...lots of maintenance and fiddling.

Any insight would be great. Thanks again.

I believe that supporting your local dealer is a good thing.

When I was checking prices a Kubota dealer told me the 50 hr service would run $350.

So are you getting an oil change, or a 50 hr service?

You are correct. 50 hr service. I assume it simply was an oil and filter change. Must be more for $350.

That is a tough question. I ended up buying from the closest dealer. His price was not the rock bottom lowest, but it was within 250.00 dollars. Any Kioti dealer should repair your tractor under warranty. As far as price shopping goes, mostly everybody does that one way or the other. Alot of people price shop just to save a dollar. I price shop, but I also take into consideration the person or company that I'm buying from. I have paid more for some items just because I liked the person or the company I dealt with. Honestly though, not one dealer I talked to for about 6 to 8 months earned by business. All makes and models included here. The product sold it self and it just so happens my local dealer was competitive in pricing. I don't really expect any tractor to go in the shop for anything major. They are all built very good now in my opinion. There are some outstanding dealers out there such as Wallace and Depratt just to name a few, that deserve to charge accordingly for there outstanding service. If you happen to live near a dealer that is outstanding than that is a plus. If a outstanding dealer is farther away, then I say they deserve your business as long as it is a fair price. Just my opinion though.

Not sure what they were actually going to do for the $350.

I ended up with a CK20HST from a dealer 5 miles away. They were good people, and are also going to do the 50 hr for me also.

I was just trying to point out the free 50 hr might be worth something towards that $850 difference.

I thought it was a tough question also. That is why I started it as a new thread. If the prices were within $250 dollars, I would not be asking. I would definitely go local. Have to support the local business. But, $800 to $1000 more, really makes you sit back and think about it.

I would like to know what service is done at 50hrs. Do they drain and change all the fluids? Or just oil and filters?

LOL...Buying a car is easier.

From what I understand all the fluids and filters should be changed at the 50 hour service. Some of the dealers on here could give you a better answere I'm sure.

We do the following....
Change engine oil and filter
Change hydro fluid and filter(s)
Change front axel fluid
go over all loader frame bolts
Go over all backhoe bolts
Check adjustment on clutch & brake
Drain clutch housing
Clean raidiator and prescreen
Inspect air filter
Check lug nuts
Check air preasure in tires
Check all lights
Check all saftey switches
Grease the whole machine replacing the ones that don't take grease
Test drive
clean machine
That is about 3 hours spent on a machine
That is usually around $350

I have yet to have any warranty work done on my CK20HST which I bought in Jan 04, almost 350 hours. Loaders, backhoes etc. are made by other OEMs not Kioti. Some of those have had some problems from time to time. We've had reports here occasionally of small issues, but most are taken care of pretty quickly to the satisfaction of the buyer.
Kioti dealers are all required to provide nationwide warranty work, and most dealers would like to earn your local business, so, as a general rule I don't see any problem with buying from far away.
That said, consider the costs of getting an out-of-town purchase to you today in this atmosphere of HIGH fuel costs. If you go get it yourself, what will it cost? What will shipping to you cost? You may diminish the cost difference quickly once you know these costs.

I have an 8N and do some tinkering with it also. My CK30hst has run perfectly without any tinkering except for keeping the fel and bh greased. I just completed my 50 hour service myself as per the manuals recommendations and it took me about four hours. What Wallace has written is right from the manual. Add up three filters, 6 quarts engine oil, four quarts front axle gear oil, and 7 1/2 gallons hydro fluid along with greasing everything and checking adjustments and the charge isn't really that bad. I just like to do my own work to save a few dollars and I also learn about the tractor.
As far as where to buy, I guess that is something you have to decide for yourself. $850 is definately something to think about.

8N owner huh. I have a 9N. Rebuilt the hydraulic pump and the rear differential all by myself. So, I am hoping I can handle the 50 hr service by myself. But, you never now.

My tractor was delivered yesterday and I did not buy locally. Also, I went with the CK25 rather than the LB1914. I bought it from Wallace. Here are the factors on why I went with Wallace:

- price was great!

- Rick and staff are courteos and professional. He also takes pride in establishing a relationship with his customers rather than just selling a tractor.

- Wallace seems to deliver anywhere. Turns out that he sold a tractor someone else in my area So, it works out well for the both of us.

- I also got a hat and a great shirt out of the deal. (see attached)

-lastly, did I mention price.

Congrats on the CK25. I did not buy locally because the local dealer was about $2500 higher on a Ck20 w/FEL. The issue was when I did need some warranty work, their statement was "we do not do warrany work on anything that we did not sell". I gave a call to Kioti, and they were about as bad on the phone. The only one who would step up to the plate was the dealer I bought from, who went above and beyond. I would say you did the right thing by buying from a good Kioti dealership. I also think my problem was a fluke, you will probably never need warranty work.

If you rebuilt your 9N's hydralic pump and rear diff., then the 50 hour service will be easy for you. My 8N has just about everything rebuilt by me over the past ten years except for the trans and diff. Your CK25 should be almost exactly the same as my CK30 except for the engine. The 50 hour service wasn't complicated, just time consuming. The owner's manual should be all that you need for the routine service. I have just ordered a sevice manual for the CK30, which covers both the 25 and 30. There's a little more to your CK25 than your old 9N, but you must be mechanically inclined if you did your own repairs to your 9N and the CK should be easy once you get used to it.
Enjoy the new tractor and 60 years of improvements sure makes the tractors fun.
