Local crackdown on "rolling coal"

Only in Maine I guess....
Are you saying that you wouldn't mind if somebody parked their diesel under your window and let it idle for hours? And contrary to what you say, those old Cummings were the noisiest diesel of any of the "big three" pickups.

Just so long as I don't have to smell it, fine with me.

Never heard a Cummins rattle. Cat maybe, Cummins, never. Interestingly, all of my Kubota's rattle. Must be the injection pump or combustion chamber shape or location if the injector.

I find that sound....comforting.

If it's a 24V, I would call that a rattle, they are pretty annoying to listen to for more than a couple minutes.. Running it for an hour parked is probably due to some knucklehead that needs a noisy truck to prove his manhood, lots of them around here...

The rolling coal thing is redneckery at it's finest. If you need a big diesel truck to do your work fine. Try to keep it in good working order and get your job done. Driving a black belching diesel just to say look at me is irresponsible.

I have a couple of Harley's, They are both fairly loud when above 2k rpm. I'm always aware of my environment and keep the noise at low as possible. But on the highway.. IMO.., it can't be loud enough. We just did a 400 mile ride this weekend and without exaggeration .. 3 or 4 cars drifted into my lane without signaling ..or probably even looking...I assume they were messing it's a phone.. It's plain scary..

Your loud exhaust is more likely to get you run over. People tend to steer in the direction they look.

I get it to a point. I poked holes in the stock baffles on my Harley to make it sound a little throatier. That said I can't stand to hear an un muffled motorcycle when it's sounding off.
