As the season inches closer to snow and ice
I am contemplating adding a bit of WWF
to the rears of my LA115.

I have the 2-42 pound suitcase weights for the rear
mount and snow chains and will be using them.
And having removed the weights and weight carrier
makes me want put it back quickly as the installing
removal and reinstalling of the quick hitch is not an issue
or a problem

The reason:

I have a very large commercial log splitter that weighs
almost 2,000 pounds without fluids and I have to decide
whether it is better to move the splitter to the wood or
the wood to the splitter. I have the 2 inch ball quick hitch
mounted on the LA115 for the log splitter and the dump
trailer but without the 82 pounds of rear weight on the
LA115 to tow the log splitter it spins a bit until it gains
some traction, and I do not want to maroon the log splitter
by the wood pile-not that I have to worry about its being
stolen where it is now by my wood piles.

I have the 42 inch snow blower and chains
for it so getting to the wood and making room
to work is not an issue but I want to avoid
having the log splitters road tires frozen to the ground
I can carry what I need with my monster cart, being the
generator and salamander to heat up the frozen wood pile,
log splitter AND ME.

Any thoughts issues plusses and minusses are welcome

;)

Adding WWF should help, and can't harm your situation.

But I'd consider getting a ball added to the weight bracket so you can have the weights and pull the splitter at the same time.
That should be doable for anyone handy with a welder.

Thanks much Beenthere,

I have not heard any bad things about
the transmission on this lawn mower as
it has been in use for several years.

I have a hand truck ball hitch frame that has
a lot of steel I could use for it. I will have to
give this a bit more of thought as there is not
all that much room on the weight bracket where
the steel on the quick hitch is prettty thick except
for the stand off struts which only center the main
weldment for the quick hitch.

Just keep in mind that the LA115 isn't a heavy duty tractor. :D

It is built to try to get market share of the Craftsman and other low priced models.

Don't want to see you pull the guts out of a good lawn mower and stand holding the bag.

Your right about that, I probably should wait until snow flies to see how well I can tow the monster cart loaded with the rear weights on and hauling the unsplit rounds by themselves and the salamander and generator where I need it to work where my processor is.

Thanks much.
