I am looking at a ds45 for working around my mill, and in the bush. I will be using the loader a lot, and maxing it out regularly. Does anyone else use a loader a lot for heavy work, and how does the loader and front end perform?

Last weekend I was moving 35' telephone poles with my DK45SC and 48" Gator grapple. The tractor didn't have any problem lifting and carrying (with loaded rears), but it was disconcerting to see the side-to-side twisting of the poles in the grapple on uneven ground, so I went REALLY slow.
I've also moved large sandstone foundation stones which nearly lift the rear end off the ground...no problem, except the brakes don't work worth a darn when the rears are barely touching the ground (don't start downhill in this configuration!).
For lots of loader work, I'd suggest the HST version would be a better choice than the 12X12 gear version (which I have). Sometimes I feel like a one-armed paper-hanger shifting gears, ranges, forward-reverse and working the loader and grapple controls all at the same time!

i have the DK45SE HST version. without any other ballast buy the rear filled tires, i can easily move my gooseneck horse trailer (16-1800#) from the ball attached to my FEL. Its a non issue.

Ive filled the loader to the max with wet soil and wet manure, and easily lifts and maneuvers the mess. I love this tractor.

As far as I know, there is no other tractor in the 40-45 HP range that has a stronger loader than the Kioti DK or DS. Certainly not Kubota, JD or NH. The Kioti also has a very stout front axle casting.

I have done mostly loader intensive work over the past three years clearing land with grapple and BH. The loader is great and the tractor is beefy enough to make good use of it too. I'm posting from my iPhone so don't have access to photos but I've posted many examples of monster loads picked up and moved with my DK40se.

I have only had my DK45 for 3 weeks now, however I am extremely impressed with the loader at what it can lift. Just hit 43 hours last eve and so far I have moved probably close to 75 yrds of dirt (wet heavy), 4 full skids of blocks, and 52 ton of gravel, amongst alot of lighter things. When spreading the gravel with the 6 ' bucket I could heap the bucket and pick it up with no difference in feel picking up the bucket empty. The full skids on 8" blocks did make it grunt, but moved them with out a hitch. I use a 6' box blade on the back for ballast most of the time. When I moved the blocks I had an 8' landscape rake on.

Kubota L45?

Kubota lists the lifting capacity for the L45 as 2200lbs to full height. Not clear if that is measured at pivot pins or midbucket but it is either less or about the same as the Kioti K401 at 2700lbs at pivot pins.

The L45 is actually more of a construction loader and if configured without backhoe but with 3PT and similar warranty as the DK tractors is listed at over $38,000. I'd say that pretty much proves my point. There is no other CUT in this HP range that comes close to the DK or DS series 40/45 HP range in price/performance especially when focussing on loader lift. I'm sure the L45 can be had for less than full retail but it would clearly cost at least $12000 more than a DK 40/45. I understand the L45 is a specialized TL and not directly comparable but still, that shows just what a value the DK and DS are.

L45
Lift capacity max height bucket bottom mid: 2200
Lift capacity max height pivot pin: 2848
Breakout force at pivot pin: 4530

Dk45 K401
Lift capacity max height bucket bottom: unknown
Lift capacity max height pivot pin: 2761
Breakout force at pivot pin: 3727

Very similar in max capacity except for breakout force. The DK/DS is quite a machine for the price. I also agree it's really not apples to apples as far as intended use goes, the L45 has a beefed-up frame and upgraded hydraulics, so I suppose you're getting something for your extra 12K. If I'm not mistaken the soon to be no more JD 110 is close in loader specs too.

I just submitted my 100hr review of the DS4510HS earlier today.Over here it comes with an Ansung AL41 loader, however both the tractor and loader have both proved very reliable, so far, under a pretty heavy workload.
