I have an M5030SU 4WD Kubota with an M1000 loader. The loader did not come with a control valve but with hoses to connect to the back of the tractor and the valves are mounted on the side of the tractor next to the 3pt controls. I need at least one additional valve for dumping my bailer and the cylinder for my rear hay spear. I am thinking about adding a valve for the loader which would free up the two others.
From reading a lot of post I think I can tap into the supply line from the pump at a coupling on the side of the tractor and use add a valve with power beyond. I think this is how it works but please let me know where I go astray.
A line from the pump would go to the new valve and a line would go from the power beyond back to the other valves (placing the new valve in series with the existing valves). There would also be a valve from the new valve to return fluid. I think the new valve should be closed center with the power beyond addapter to supply pressure to the following valves. The Kudota loader book shows a valve with cable remotes which would be a great space saver.
I like the look of the Brand Hydraulics Monoblock Loader Valve, Model# PLV22TSTKAB which is sold at TSC.
I really appreciate any help and suggestions on possible valves and their configuration.

Your are on the right track but the control vlave needs to be "open center" to allow oil to go through to the rear valve when loader not in use.

I think I see. I thought the supply to the existing valves that follow the new valve would be from the power beyond port and that the open center would allow flow to the sump and not allow full pressure to the last valves.

I guess that open center does not mean that with the handles in neutral position the flow is to the return line?

So the flow from the pump goes to the loader valve input port and a line from the power beyond port goes to the next valve and a return line goes to the sump. When one of the loader valves is used the fluid from the cylinder goes the return port and when the handle is in neutral full flow goes to the power beyond port to supply following valves?

Yes, you got it:thumbsup:

Your fluid path should be , pump, new valve with PB, FEL valve, 3pt.

The fluid through the FEL valve, and cyl fluid will exit from the OUT/return port to the 3pt, as the FEL valve has no PB. The new valve will need a return to tank hose for the cyl fluid.

Be sure you don't insert the new valve into the pump circuit upstream of the system pressure relief valve. If the PRV is internal to the pump then you will probably be downstream of it, and okay. But if the PRV is in the transmission housing (or hydraulic sump if separate) your new valve will be upstream of it; in that case you will need a system PRV with your new valve.

Many Kubotas have a manifold block on the side of the transmission housing that lets you insert the FEL valve in the circuit.

Yes my tractor has the existing valves on the side of the transmission that I have been using for the FEL. The diagrams of the Kubota valve in the loader book show it being tied into the pressure line from the pump where I planned to connect.
All of the valves that I have been looking at list an adjustable relief set at 2000 pounds or more.
I have been looking at the Prince and the Brand valves. Any suggestions of other valves or if one brand is better than others? Anyone have information on cable remote joystick control for the FEL valves?

Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for.

I am looking at the Prince valves that are rated at 25 gpm. My book on my Kubota M5030SU 4WD says it has 9.2 gpm supply and the most I find online ratings for it is 13 gpm. Should I look for a 10 gpm valve to give better control for my FEL or will the 25 gpm valve be OK?

A 10 gpm valve will give you better control.
The first one you mentioned should work but it looks like you will need a power beyond sleeve. I don't see the sleeve at Northern. Are you sure you saw the valve at TSC?

Here is a very similar valve at Surplus Center. It has a regenerative bucket dump feature which is a plus. Check out the "Instructions" link.

This is the power beyond sleeve. Looking at the manual for the valve at Northern, this sleeve will work with that one too.

Thanks Brad. I thought I read somewhere that the regenerative option was faster but might result in less power. Is there a down side to that option.
I am trying to be sure that some cable remotes from Surplus will match the Brand valve and get the right adapter for this. I just need to see if I can mount the valve in the same place as the Kubota valve that I should have gotten 20 years ago will work for this valve. It takes a lot hoses, fittings and disconnects but I have decided to go ahead with the changes.
I retired a few months ago from a chemical plant and have been working on any project that I can to make the farm work easier for an old man. I converted my loader to the skid stear quick connect (of course my loader is wider than the new ones so had to build to fit) and am in the process of changing all of my attachments. This forum has been a great help and everyone has been very helpful. Thanks to all.

On the valve that Brad posted above, the regen function lever is all the way to the right, and will dump the bucket about 4 times faster. You don't have to use it all the time, and yes, you do lose some power. If you try to raise the front wheels off the ground in regen, you probably can not, where as the normal curl down will probably raise the front end.

Thanks JJ. I think I will get the valve without regen which is avaliable at Northern either way. I like more power when ever I can get it.

I reread your post and got the message this time. The regen function is just in the far postion of the stick and would not be used all of the time just when needed to dump the bucket. If so I think it is a good feature.
