loader tractor valve

we have a loader that origionally had only lift rams [one hose on bottom.] replaced rams hooked hoses on both ends for power down. plumed to valve, it doesent seem to be sending oil to return stroke. what changes need to be made to the valve to operate correctly? bucket comes down slow and stops when it touches the floor. the bucket itself has two way rams.

I think its more complicated than you think. You need a new valve also to support your double acting cylinders. Your current valve is set up for pressure up/gravity down like a 3 point lift valve or also called single acting. You will need a valve like this one. It allows you to have pressure in from the pump with a line back to the tank for a return. Then you will have 4 work ports. 2 will run out to hoses then "Y" off to run the lift cylinders in both the up and down functions. The other 2 ports will run the curl cylinders in both directions via the same type of plumbing as listed above.

Also we need more info like tractor type, loader type, pump gpm and if it closed center or open center system?

its a ford 3000 with a fosco loader. the valve is a gresen 2702. it is a double valve[lift and bucket] one piece cast. it had a plug in the down hole in the valve we removed and plumed in just like the two way bucket side. it seems to me ifr you took the valve apart the bucket side of the valve would be configured different than the lift arm side. if chanes were made so that both sides were the same it would work.

I think I agree with DP. The spool for the lift circuit is probably set up for SA cylinders. I seriously doubt you will fine a replacement DA spool. I would spend the $200 and upgrade to a new joystick valve.
