Just a heads up for anyone looking for a loader mounted snowblade for the BX22 or other BX series. Kasco is making a 60 inch blade with or without power angle that mounts to the loader arms. I called them and the way it was explained to me is that the bucket is removed and this blade is mounted in its place. They are sending me some literature in the mail on it. Anyone interested can look here http://www.kascomfg.com/BLADES.htm

Kasco is a little behind. I did that years ago(10). Put a 71/2' fisher plow on a 394 Allied FEl on a JD 2010. Worked great. Now have that same plow mounted (quick hitch) on snow blower sub frame for the bota.

Kasco has been building stuff like this for over 25 years and so have many other manufacturers. The point of this post was to let everyone know that Kasco has made one specifically for the BX models. I have seen posts in the past where folks here have asked about loader mounted blades for the BX. Just trying to be helpful and let everyone know they are available now. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I like the idea, but think that 60 inches is inadequate for most uses and that it could easily handle a 72 in blade.... thanks for the link......

Excuse me, I did not mean to be rude or rile anyone. Sharing your info is a great ideal. Kasco is a good company and I love the portable band saw that they build although I do not own one.

Ok I'll bite....What can you use a 72 inch front blade for that you couldn't a 60 inch blade? Other than it moving a little more material be it snow or dirt....A 60 is still an improvement over the 48 inch bucket on the BX.
Just curious if I was missing something because I am considering purchasing one of these. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I think I read somewhere that for a back blade a 60 incher was all you wanted for the BX.....Correct me if I am wrong because I am considering a back blade also.

I believe that when you angle a 60" blade, that the effective clearing area would be about 48" - 50". I have done a lot of snow plowing and it is rare that the blade is straight across, but rather angled to push the snow off to the side. This is why I would prefer a 72" blade..... It would be effectively clearing a 60" swath and the tires would not be riding in the snow. I had this problem with my truck also when I had a 7'6" blade..... I was constantly packing the snow down where I was plowing. I upgraded to a 8'6" blade and it is a lot better. I don't have any more problem pushing the larger blade than I did with the smaller blade. I always plow with the storm, because that way I don't have to move a greater amount of snow than the truck can handle. I would also do the same with the tractor.... another item that I would like to see is a snow shield for the top of the plow....... it helps to keep the snow curling to the side and not riding over the top. I do hope that the manufacturer will offer an assortment of options to handle the needs of the purchaser.

This is what I was told by the dealer when I bought mine last year. I would think the principle would be the same. 60" back blade so a 60" front blade. Of course, the 72" might work too. I never tried it.

I have a 60" front mounted blade for my BX and it works quite well. It pushes the snow to the side far enough that I am not running over the unplowed edge. I usually plow near full speed so that it throws the snow further; the blade is curved enough to "roll" the snow over well.
I think a 72" blade would probably work ok for a lighter snowfall, but for a large amount of snow that extra foot of blade will create more resistance and may compromise traction.
I'm not disappointed at all with the perfomance of the 60" blade. I can plow the road of my addition in 2 or 3 loops - it would still take 2 or 3 loops with a 72" blade.
