I believe that when you angle a 60" blade, that the effective clearing area would be about 48" - 50". I have done a lot of snow plowing and it is rare that the blade is straight across, but rather angled to push the snow off to the side. This is why I would prefer a 72" blade..... It would be effectively clearing a 60" swath and the tires would not be riding in the snow. I had this problem with my truck also when I had a 7'6" blade..... I was constantly packing the snow down where I was plowing. I upgraded to a 8'6" blade and it is a lot better. I don't have any more problem pushing the larger blade than I did with the smaller blade. I always plow with the storm, because that way I don't have to move a greater amount of snow than the truck can handle. I would also do the same with the tractor.... another item that I would like to see is a snow shield for the top of the plow....... it helps to keep the snow curling to the side and not riding over the top. I do hope that the manufacturer will offer an assortment of options to handle the needs of the purchaser.
