I recently had to remove my loader and subframe in order to put a new clutch in the tractor. I took the opportunity to prep and paint everything since the loader was a home brew project from last winter and needed painting. Yesterday I decided to put the loader back on and when everything was back together I started it up to purge the air out of lines. I first cycled the arms by raising them and lowering them a few times and then started to do the same with the bucket. I moved the joystick to dump, which it did, and then when I moved it to curl the bucket back it began to dump again. I tried several times to get the bucket to curl back but had no luck, so now the bucket is in the fully dumped position and just opens the relief valve every time I try to curl it. How is it possible that raise, lower and dump are all working correctly but when I move the joystick to curl back it wants to dump? My first thought was that if the cylinders seals were bad it could let fluid blow past and push the cylinder out instead of retracting but the cylinders worked great right up to the time I took the loader off and they are basically brand new so I just can't imagine that's the problem. I haven't had a chance to look at it again yet and thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas on what's wrong before I start taking things apart.
