I bought mine this past summer from a box chain autoparts store for a mere $56 with core trade. Comes with a 1yr warranty. :) It's the 100% identical OE model. I'm very pleased.

We are talking about starter, right?

My bad.

I read one thing and focused on another.

When I had the JD850, aka YM2500 aka YM2610, all with the 3T80 engine, the starter price from Amazon was $90+core. $99 total with free shipping.

This is the new generation of starters for our machines. OSGR. Way better than the old solenoid type. Starts the engine in very cold temps too.

I see Rareelectrical's starter on Amazon is now priced more than the other China replica starters. I don't know if this means better. They and DBelectrical have sold on Ebay for years, and lots of satisfied customers.

Restoring my YM240 in 2003 I replaced the botched 'rebuilt' starter I found on it, with a $100 one from Rareelectrical. It has worked flawless for near 20 years now. Recommended.

But I bought the next larger KW starter than what Yanmar used originally. Same dimensions and mount. It spins the engine frantically. Recommended!

If I have an engine, especially diesel engines, where the starter has failed, I try to up the power (kW) when I replace it as well. I think that there is very little downside, and the cold starting goes much easier, and that saves wear and tear on everything.

All the best,

Peter

Yes, the original starters are rated for 1.2Kw. There are 2.0Kw version in the OSGR types. Thus, my posting showing the ASAP link. :)

Added: With an OSGR starter, some can have the driver motor replaced to a higher Kw type for more frantic spin as 'California' mentioned.
