Does my 2017 XR4140 with 4104 loader have a float position and how do I work it?
I’ve look in my loader manual and couldn’t find it.

Just push the stick all the way forward. You should feel a click and the lever with stay in that position.

Just so you know, the first time I did this I felt like I was going to break something

Very good point. Some float positions are very hard to go in, specially if it's a cable operated setup and it's not adjusted properly. Another issue is moisture getting into the detent part of the valve and cause all kinds of troubles.

Thanks for the quick replies.
As I thought…. Just push the handle forward till it clicks. I’ll try it tomorrow AM.

Nope … couldn’t wait that long. Went out to tractor to try it. I’m pushing pretty hard. YouTube videos I’ve seen of other tractors it seems like just a firm solid push gets it done.
I didn’t mention it but two years ago I installed the WR Long third function kit for my grapple. It included a new loader handle.
Now I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to investigate.

Just to note, moisture builds up on the linkages in there, making it possibly difficult to get into, and definitely to get out of float. I took the cover off the linkage (below the handle), cleaned and greased everything, and it works pretty well. You may see that if you pull the cover off.

Unless you didnt use the Power Beyond Port on the loader valve, the WR Long kit shouldnt have any effect on float control.

Mine takes a bit of effort to get it into float. More effort to pull it out of float once its in, though. I have torn it all apart a few times, and it helps, but its not buttery smooth. It does take some pushing and pulling.

I have my grapple on the FEL now. So FLOAT is not something I use. However - when I had the bucket on - it clicked into float very easily.

It just might be that the Op's system does not have float. My OP Manual discusses float and it's uses. If his OP Manual doesn't discuss it ................

Don't break something trying to find it. Talk to the Service Manager at your local dealership.
