ford 8n
Hello - I'm sure this topic has been hashed out a hundred times, but need to ask. I'm looking for our would like a loader for my 8n... for light duty work. I want a small loader and really like the look of the Paulson loaders. However, looks like they are out of business? I'd like live hydro on this loader - wondering is there such a thing for an 8n? Am I wasting my time? Yes, I won't be doing any heavy work - maybe lifting mulch, putting firewood wood in the bucket to move, or scraping. Is there anybody out there who's happy with a loader on their 8n?

If paulson is out of business it must be recent cause I've talked with them a little over a year or so ago. I had one on one of my 4000's. I have since sold that loader. In hind sight I probably shouldn't have. It was a nice light small bucket 4' unit. It had double pistons on the bucket with down pressure. They offered a single piston or a trip bucket for use with tractor hydraulics. This loader IMO would be a good fit for an N tractor. If you can find one.
I have a Wagner model 110 on my 640. This would also be a good unit for an N tractor. The bucket is a little bigger than the paulson. i think it's 5' and has down pressure. The 100 model had a single piston. No trip bucket was available. I'm going to sell this one in the spring. a friend of mine wants it for one of his 8n's.
I would recommend a step thru instead of the jungle jym style loader.
Here are photos of both loaders.
Don't forget you will need some kind of counterweight for the rear of the tractor.

to get live power you will need an engine driven pump. either astinger or an add on unit.

I personally would skip the 8n and laoder.. but if it's what you got.. it's what you got.

might sell the N and get another older ford with laoder. maybee get lucky and it will be an 00/01 with power steering..

PS is a big plus with a loader with a full bucket.

yup.

I move hay with a 660, and 2 850's. 1 850 has ps. it is the easiest to steer by FAR with a bale of hay out front!

the other 850 has since gotten a hoe on back.. that ALMOST counts as PS as it is so dang heavy.. :)

Kirk-NJ...the Paulson almost looks like it's from the factory! That looks great and I wonder - would that work ok on an 8n? It's what I have and would make it so easy if it would bolt on. However, i would want live hyd on it. Is this easy to bolt on? ALso, if someone were to skip the 8n and upgrade to something more fitting for a loader, what would it be? I need a smaller tractor for mowing my trails - the work I do is small and I need a tractor the size of the N if possible. Is the 3000 series OK? Is that close to the same size as a n?

The 2000 is closer if I have my figures right.
