Lk3054 power steering weak sometimes?

Anyone else still have one of these? Is your power steering weak sometimes? Fluid levels show full on sight glasses? Is my pump going bad?

These are a little weak at times. I try not to turn steering wheel with out moving and that helps a lot. Try not to force it as the sector shaft tends to break with to much pressure.

Keep the front pivot points greased well as that helps. Also be mindful of heavy loads in the loader. If in a tight area that you need to turn the wheels, set load down turn wheel then pick back up.

The steering valve does have a pressure relief that is adjustable if needed but should not do that without a gauge. Not even sure what pressure it should be set. I did adjust mine down a little to help keep me from putting to much stress on the sector shaft.

I don't know if I'd consider the power steering weak on mine. The one issue I do occasionally have is that the steering will stop responding...you keep turning the steering wheel, but the tires don't move. Turn the wheel a bit in the other direction and you're back in business. No pattern to when it does it.

I believe the XS version used a different style system than the older 3054. I think the XS has steering cylinders on the front end.

Mine does have a hydraulic cylinder for steering, didn't realize the older ones were different.
