lk 30 54 fuel sending unit

I finally got all the other issues with my lk3054 fixed, but now if I go don a steep hill the fuel gauge will go to half or less and stay there for hours once on level ground, even if the tank is 100% full. It will eventually go back to full but I guess my question is can this be repaired or do I need a new sender

I have never fixed mine so can't be much help. When my gauge shows empty I still have two gallons of fuel in the tank. I kind of like it because I use a 5 gal can to refuel. When it gets to the empty mark, I go get one can and it fills it to the neck.

I'm not sure if they're like others that have a "float & rod" but if so.. you might have some condensation in the tank & on the rod..
Take a coat hanger & unwind it to make a hook.. reach in & grab the float & gently pull up.. it should come up & go down w/ ease..
You might just have to "help it" a little to knock the rust off..?? Just a thought..

My CK30hst used to give me strange readings when first purchased. I removed the fuel gauge sending unit from the top of the tank and all looked good. I checked it with an ohms meter and got the correct readings. It ended up being that the float would get stuck on the inside wall of the tank. After a few tries at bending the rod that the float was attached to, I finally got it to work correctly. The readings were still a little off as far as gallons but I got it where at 1/4 tank, 5 gallons would fill up my 8 gallon tank. Just a thought from my problem.
