limited RPM at cold start, is this normal?

That sounds like my old Yanmar did when cold starting, it didn't have glow plugs and after turning over for a few seconds it would catch and smoke like crazy but only barely continue running till the pistons heated enough to get it running right. Anything below about 40F and I would have to put hot air into the intake (wifes hair dryer worked well for this) to get it to fire up.
I would suspect a glow plug problem if you are using them. IF not, allow the glow plugs to activate for at least 10 seconds before engaging the starter. For my LS P7010, I have never had to use the glow plugs for cold starting, but then I seldom get outside if it is below 35F since I have retired, if I don't do it today, next week will still work just as well. On cold winter days, just feed the poultry and get back inside as quick as possible.

This reminds me of when a neighbor bought about a 1972 Oliver a few years ago. It was a 6-cylinder diesel and instead of glow plugs had a heat grid in the air intake. So the first cold morning, it started and ran just fine . . . at idle, but when he tried to increase the RPMs to go, nothing happened. So he left it idling, went back in the house, and called the dealer from whom he had just bought it. The dealer asked how long he had let it warm and told him that was probably the only problem, but to call back if it still wouldn't go when he went back outside. Sure enough, it ran just fine by the time he got back outside.

Time to get the dealer involved . Why no manual with a new tractor ? 48 is nothing , ought to start as soon as you look at the key .

It'll start much easier if you let the glow plugs cycle off before you try to start it. I use them in all temps on the first start of the day ---- and thereafter, too, if it's been sitting for a couple of hours.

MY Kubota B26 and RTV 900 are very cold natured and require glow plugs to start easily below 50-60F, otherwise they have to turn over many revolutions before starting, however my LS P7010 will start at lowest temps that we have in central Arkansas without any glow plug assist.
Did OP ever try starting with a 15 second glow plug start or whatever the timer is set too. 10 seconds is usually long enough for my Kubota's.

if it's under warranty.. i wouldn't even reach for a tool box.. i'd reach for a phone.

if it's outta warranty.

i'd investigate it if it does it again.

if it is not banging on all cylc, use a wrench an open an injector line and see if it effects it. if you open a line that has no effect.. that is the lung not fireing.

it may be that it cannot make rpm's untill all are going. in fact.. you might be runnign on 1 cyl at startup or something...

I have a G3033 and it does the exact same thing, idles at about 450 and slowly climbs to 800-900 over about 1-2min (20-30 seconds if I set the throttle halfway). If it's a little warmer out then no problems. I have a block heater in mine that I haven't used yet, maybe I'll plug it in for a couple hours then try and start it. I wonder if the oil in the crankcase it's shipped with is a heavy viscosity, which is no good to me here in northern Canada. I'm not sure if my block heater only kicks in at certain temps but I'll try it, it's cool this morning, about 0c, so if it runs normal after having it plugged in I guess I need to change to a winter oil.

I honestly thought this was normal and I'm not even in to winter yet. Maybe I'll take a video of the start-up so you guys can get a better idea.


EDIT: ah its not a block heater but an inline water/radiator heater and yeah it works, quite warm. So i dont think it will make a difference in my start test.

I'm having the same problem with my New Holland Workmaster 35, the 3033's twin, as in the video. Has anyone figured out what the problem was? I've got a good dealership that'll take care of this, but it's Sunday so they're closed.
