Has anyone heard from our loyal TBNer's that were in the path of Jeanne? I suspect that the upper east coast and middle portion of the State has had their power out. I hope this is the last one of this hurricane season -- their spirit must be pretty low right now.

We were normally scheduled to fly out of Lauderdale at 10 am, Saturday.. At 7Pm Friday, they announced a mandatory evac from Miami to Pompano, all barrier islands, motels, and mobile home sites.. I watched on the balcony while cab after cab or car, emptied all the motels that line A1A in Ft La. After many attempts, finally got through to Delta late Fri night and got the last two seats on a 4 am departure,, They had already announced by TV, Ft La. airport would close by Sat at 8 am.. Closed all shutters, turned water and all off, then waited for the ride to the airport at 3am.. The security said it was the busiest Sat they can remember.. I know we waited 45 minutes past take off time to leave, which, filled every single seat,, As it turns out, that whole area got heavy rain and moderate winds. No known damage othr then a palm leaf here and there.. Upper penninsula, OkeeDon and his area, is hammered again, fourth in a row,,, All those people have to be besides themselves by now,,,

I'm in Polk county. Look for where Charley, Frances and Jenne crossed and that's where I'm at.

I had no damage to my house but have over 50 trees down over 7 acres. I also have no power and will not for the foreseable future.

Go to www.tbo.com and they have some pictures and reports of the damage.

Yep power is out in some areas of the Palm City East of were the storm made land fall. No power or phone at the house but have it 6 miles away at the office. I hope that Okeedon made it thru ok he is a little further north than I am. Thanks for the concern gatorboy. I think it is time to get a whole house generator so I will have it if needed.

I am back. We are fine. I am on the otherside of Polk from you. In-laws are also in mulberry (willow oak) and they will not have power for some time for what we are told

I was in HD the other day here in WNY. The generators are gone. Powerless tools are dwindling to nothing. Lumber is thinning because as it leaves the store it's not being replaced. There was a sign on the door which essentially said everything is going to Fla. and that replentishement isn't coming anytime soon.
I built my house last winter with a complete backup power system included for the additional cost. I waited until June to go get my generator and thank god I did then because who knows when I could have gotten one now.........
I feel bad for everyone when I see the carnage on video, pictures ect..... Things can be replaced but your life can't. I try to look at it that way.

Gatorboy... thanks for the words. We were very fortunate and never lost power.... largely due to we were fortunate enough to be out of harms way .... no home damage, not trees down etc. Spirit all over Florida is very low..... being a state worker I'm involved and have access to a lot information on the efforts ongoing to clean up etc. The local fairgrounds is actually a major staging area for relief help... lot of power trucks, dump trucks, wood trucks etc. coming in and out of Tallahassee. Just this morning I passed about 20 power trucks from Alabama Power getting off I-10 going to the staging area for deployment. Kinda makes you welt up inside seeing this much humanity.

You know, I haven't seen OkeeDon post since Jeanne. His two places are in Port St Lucie and Okeechobee if I remember correctly. Port Saint Lucie and Fort Pierce were ground zero for Jeanne AND Frances both. Okeechobee isn't too far off ground zero. Loxahatchee isn't too far off either, but I got power back after Jeanne in about 1.5 days. Power was out for 10 days after Frances. I suspect Don's got no power still, and may not for a while. Jeanne tore up alot of stuff, and most of the Frances repairs weren't finished when Jeanne hit.

I can't get any roofers to come out and do a quote on my place. The ones who said "maybe" (nobody said yes) all say 8-10 weeks. I just gave up trying and called in an insurance claim since they said only three weeks for the adjuster. A least I'll know sooner if I'll get any money for the roof repairs, or if it doesn't exceed my deductible. I'm crawling into the roof regularly and checking for leaks. So far the tar paper is holding up fine, no leaks found.

On a side note, every morning as I drive south to work, I pass a record number of skid steers, and tractors, and construction equipment, on trailers, northbound. There's alot of work to be done north of Palm Beach County. I counted 60 different machines headed north one morning last week.

Has anyone seen the pictures of Fort Pierce Marina from Frances? There were claims pics on Boat US's website, and there is alot of damage. I work in the marine industry, and my network contacts all say insurance companies are giving the boats away for free if you go get them. The catch is, the are all on hard ground, and it's about $100 per foot to pick them up onto a trailer. So a 50 footer that spent a couple days submerged in salt water would cost you $5k to get it on a trailer, and another few hundred to get it home. Not really worth it at that point, once you cut the hull up and dispose of it.

Yep, I'm here and posted on a couple of other threads; we got power back about 9:00 PM Thursday, just in time to see the debate.

I'm lucky on the roofer, or maybe I created my own luck with good service, but back when I had the propane dispensing business, a couple of my best customers were roofers who bought propane for torch-downs. I contacted one of them who moved me up a bit in the priority list, so I had an emergency dry-in shortly after Frances, which stayed on through Jeanne and prevented my ceiling from collapsing like so many others. As far as actually replacing the roof, however, they told me they'll be sure to get to me by January.

The wife and I were in the Orlando area for Jeanne. We lost the lights and water for a day. I took a shower in the driveway where we were staying in my bathing suit. I sure wish the best for all those down there that suffered the damages that we saw while we we there. All I can say is that everywhere we went we say damage of one type or another. God Bless those poor folks down there.

After looking at the pictures at Boat US, It never ceases to amaze me about the stupidity of some people with boats. Why on earth would you leave your boat in the water with a hurricane barreling down on you? Unless of course it was to collect the insurance money on it. I saw a guy on the news the other night complainig about spending a year to restore his 50' yacht. He now has a pile of rubble. If that was my 50 foot yacht, I would have taken it out of the water or out of the harbor and headed for safer water on the west side of Florida.
