I finally got around to changing the location of the plate on the dump trailer. Here is where it has been living, it bent on the first use about 8 years back.

I printed a couple of mounts that each hold an LED plate light & a couple of 100lb. pull cup magnets. The plate provides a portion of the structure when attached with M5 screws.

Plate light feed line was routed from the original location. I used two conductor, silicon insulated 14awg for some heft. I wrapped it with fabric cable wrap for protection & appearance. Printed wire hangers were mounted with servo tape & wire secured with zip ties.

Wires were routed across hinges to accommodate movement of door & bed

Not a must do item, but it has been bugging me everytime I noticed the original placement.

I always put a peace of belt or mud flap (rubber) behind all my trailer plates it prevent them to get beat up by flying rocks... but this magnet plate holder is pretty cool.

Great solution!

I've been wanting to do something similar with mine for years but I have a one piece tailgate on my trailer that folds down. The plate and lights would get banged up worse than they do now mounted underneath.

I considered getting a trailer with side swing doors but I do a lot of tailgating and need the fold down door to regulate the material flow.

I've seen a few rigs with the plate mounted on an easily removeable bracket that attaches to the side of the trailer. I may do something like that since I don't take the trailer on the road that often.

I use a lot of magnetics. For things I really don't want to lose, like tractor mirrors, back up cameras, I tie a short safety strap of paracord. Would not want to lose a plate.

I was thinking of a plate maginet. Then the plates are easy to move around to my 4 trailers.

Also easy for somebody to steal them, no? I mounted the plate on the fender on my tilt trailer.
