Liberty's no longer in business so it's hard to know exactly which Chinese chipper they were selling but US prices of similar size self feeding Chinese chippers are in the $1500 range for new units. $1000 seems like a reasonable but not great price for a used one in decent shape.
Thanks for that. Could you give me a couple of brand names to look at? I'm struggling to find 6" chippers to compare it to. This one is "styled" like the bigger 8" chippers but apparently only has the 6" feed capacity. Most of the 6" chippers I see have a more vertical feed whereas this one is horizontal feed (which I like better). I'm leaning towards passing even after getting them down to $1000 -- unless I can get them down more assuming new ones like it are $1500-ish. I'd love to look at a couple others if you could share some brand names.
