It is official flag-flying day in Norway.

Thank you America!

Yes, thank you, Amerika.

I only wish GIs made it all the way to Prague - and did not leave middle europe to uncle Joe /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

It would save us 40+ years of trouble.

... so where is the Photo?

God Bless Norway and Europe. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Thanks for the 'heads up' reminder.

I have known many who were in WWII, and they were quite proud of being a part of the solution. Tough decisions to make, whether to make a stand or turn the other cheek. And those decisions don't get any easier as time goes on. That is unfortunate, but what will be, will be. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

A number of recent commentary shows and footage recently on our History Channel about the dealings between Isenhower and Patton, as Patton wanted to cross the Rhine River, and go all the way to Russia. Ike stopped Patton (cut off his fuel, ammo, and supplies), and sent a note to Stalin that Berlin was his to take. History shows that was a mistake. Patton may or may not have been right. But now we can only speculate.
Now if we can just realize something stable, or near stable, in Irag that will settle down the turmoil and live side by each within reason, that would be great.

I remember reading somewhere, that one of the reasons was US never mixes power (army) with politics. Or another way - they wanted to win the war - but for Stalin it was politics first.

Frankly, there were not many western politics who had a clue what was Stalin or any communist leader about. Churchill knew, Reagan too - but FDR, Carter, to name a few - they had no idea; they even trusted them /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
