I carried a Buck 110 for many years. Lost it running for my life down a wooded hillside. That was before metal detectors- lol.
I daily carry a few different switch blades in the 3.5 - 4" range with pocket clips. Like the Kershaw 7800BLK
Never had one accidently deploy.
P.S> bought a new Buck 110 last year

I needed a keychain pocketknife and bought this but it is a spring loaded switchblade and the thought of it inadvertently opening in my pocket changed my mind for me.

If you want a spring assisted knife, but are afraid it might open in your pocket, Benchmade has a really good solution. Any of their knives with the "Axis-Assist" mechanism, has a lock that will hold the knife in the closed or open position.

My everyday pocket knife is a Benchmade Mini-Barrage. You used to be able to have these custom configured from ordering on their website. I had 2 made that have orange scales (the last thing I want is a knife that blends in with wherever I put it down ;)) and S30V blade material. The perfect pocket knife IMO.

I'm sure that Benchmade is a great knife but $196 would buy me a lot of decent knives. Never understood the price on these name brand knives.

My 1970 Case XX and my 2021 Cutco hunting knife. Both with homemade danglers made from an old belt.

I know, cheaper alternatives are out there. I take a lot of pride in my pocket knife and see it as a cross between a tool, jewelry and maybe eventually, I hope, an heirloom. That's why I have two identical knives, one for each of my girls someday.

I also have a soft spot for the Benchmade Osborne designs, as I knew Warren Osborne before he passed. I always kick myself for not asking him to make some personal tweak to one of his namesake knives, so they'd have that little extra meaning.
