We still have it, but I'm not sure how long. At some point we need to clean the barn out which has been gathering things since it was built in nineteen forty something. I was down looking around yesterday and also took pictures of this old wagon jack.
There's also a bunch of old horse drawn equipment with wooden handles, old auto radiators, and God knows what else. We cleaned up two floors with my father about 12 years ago, and we threw out a 40 foot dumpster of things ranging from junk to old things which hadn't been used in years. The barn cellar is going to be "fun"; it hasn't had any major cleaning since Moby Dick was a minnow. And my mother is still finding things in the house they moved into in 1979, which my grandfather built in 1927.

Needed some large snapring pliers to install my new thumb. All I've ever had have been tiny/flimsy junkers, and my backhoe has some pretty stout snaprings on the pins.

Stopped by a local "Industrial Supply" store that was recently put in knowing they have an excellent selection of excellent brands. Quite literally one step inside the door, immediately to my right is a huge rack of all sorts of specialty pliers, and directly at eye level is a beautiful set of snapring pliers. Prominently displayed on the packaging and on the handle was 'Made in the USA' which made the $23 pricetag easier to swallow. I see on the package that it comes with different styles and sizes of pins for the end for various applications. Exactly what I need, in and out in less than five minutes. Perfect end to a good-enough day.

Unlike my typical 8 year old mentality of such things, I actually left it in the packaging overnight rather than unpacking it to play with it nearly immediately.

Fast forward to today. Rainy day, late getting any time (already dark), unable to work in the unlit barn, I decided I'd get them out and check them out. Neatest thing, they're reversible. I've seen different ones that squeeze and others that spread, but never a set that did both.

I picked up this (not USA but)early 1800’s Made in England 203# swage block for my future blacksmithing area. I have NEVER seen one advertised locally and this one was less than ten minutes from home.





I got it cleaned up but still need to devise a suitable stand for it as it will need to be used on edge as well as flat.

Picked up this Wilton 1765 vise off CL today, the movable jaw is frozen but seems to have little use. Figured for $75 I couldn't go wrong.

Hopefully a good soaking and it'll free up.

Oh it will be fine... I have restored Wilton's in much dire condition.
