I'm just curious what the experineced opinions are on used 60-80hp 4wd tractors w/loaders. I cannot afford new but want a capable reliable machine with a cab. My mechanical repair abilities are somewhat limited so my interests are in a well taken care of machine with a good history of reliablility. Obviously it depends on what a person has to spend and I am limited to around 20K. If anyone would throw out some experienced opinions I would appreciate it.

You should touch base with any local dealers,any trade-ins that they have a history with.

Avoid the 6400 JD like the plague. Im talking from experience here. I dont know what to reccomend though but im sure you will find good advice here.

I would suggest getting as new as possible from a reputable dealer. That way you'll have good support and they're less likely to sell you something with serious issues, plus you may be able to get some warranty.

You can get a brand new mahindra 3616 cab with loader for less than $25,000 or a brand new 5010 cab with loader for around $26,000. You would be at less than $30,000 on a 6110 cab with loader. With the financing on a new Mahindra, you might be able to afford more than you thought. New Mahindras come with the industry's best warranty, 5 years!

My first opinion is for users to put their location in their info..........one would be amazed at what might be available within driving distance.

Your neighbor down the street could be a member, and have what you need, but won't post it because he is thinking you probably live a thousand miles away.

I would say just be careful. $20k for that level of tractor seemed to be limited to eastern european brands, or high high hour JD/NH/MF, or 25-30 year old tractors, in my search last year.
If I had to get a tractor like that I think I'd focus more on private sales where you can meet the owner, get service records and see what kind of operation he runs.

My zip is 49855. We have little to no agriculture here. My uses are property mangement, private road maintenance and some light logging. My locale limits local used equipment.

Have you checked with Michigan Sales and Equipment in Marquette?

The same person own both the Kubota and JD dealership. These are the only dealerships in the area, guess what happens to the prices. He gets a few used machines now and then but used machines in this area carry an extreme premium.
