I spent most of my youth in north-eastern New Brunswick in the 60s and 70s (Mirimachi). Back in those days snow arrived in October and left in April. None of this cold and then warm, snow and then rain or freezing rain and then back to snow.

I can remember the police driving through the streets advising parents to keep their children off the snow piles on the side of the road because of their proximity to the power lines, assuring parents the grader would be along soon to cut the tops off the snow banks.

Outdoor rinks were everywhere, no fear of losing your ice to thaw, was a heck of a lot of snow to be shovelled off but the right shovel and a sharp pair of skates and we made short work of it. Good times.

Have to say I prefer the four seasons but not what we've been seeing these past few years.

I used to love winter. After plowing for the DOT for 14 years, my views are a little different now.

I hear ya. When we moved north and inland away from the coast in southern Maine, I thought I would leave behind the every snow ends with a rain thing. I did for a couple of years, but not lately. The -13F we had last week is the coldest it's been in at the past two-three years at least, maybe more.

Hey Mike,I know what you are talking about.I am not far from you, just before the valley, and would rather see all snow than the mixture we seem to get most of the time. The only thing I would like to see more is NO snow at all

I know, that would require moving to a more southern location and I'm not ready for that...............yet. ;)

We woke up this morning to -14 and I think it is heading your way. I'm glad I don't have to push snow in the middle of the night anymore!

That's what the weather forecasters here are predicting too, although they seem to be hesitant to say it will amount to more than 4-6 inches.

What a winter so far, looks like the blizzard warning for today will remain in effect. Not so much about the amount of snow as it is about the type of snow and the winds. With windchill factors near -30 degreees C and winds gusting to 90 km/hr that type of snow can pack pretty tight and make plowing a challenge. Whiteouts caused by this kind of weather create havoc on the road, hopefully anyone not needing to be out will stay home.

Tractor is full, beverages are hot, we're ready.

We have been on the edge of this storm. About 2" of snow, winds have not kicked up much. -8*F now rising to zero mid-day.

/ Let it snow #14
9" light snow winds starting to kick up.
If anyone would like some seat time head this way,I'll cheer you on and buy you dinner

 Moving snow every second day it seems for the past few weeks has gotten tiring for sure.

We're at about 6" right now (11:00am, near the HIAA) and the radar looks like it is getting more intense. I was out and plowed once already.

Yep, snowing here like it has to go and hel* won't have it.. reminds me of our "blizzard that wasn't" last winter, but if anything we have more this time. Went out to feed the horses at noon and it's to the top of me boots already in spots, others are polished to bare ice. Looks like tomorrow for clearing, no cab in my picture just yet..

I think the snow has stopped falling but the wind is still moving quite a bit around. Just in from feeding the horses and the paths have blown in up to my knees. Driveway and road to the barn and outbuildings are all plowed, going out to snowblow the paths.
