Lego Friends

My kids have all loved Legos as did/do I. They are 16, 17 (only daughter) & 18 at the moment and all still play with them at times. My 16 y/o still asks for Legos at Christmas & b-days. We have tons of pieces and have special ordered some items like gears so we could compete as a family in FLL (FIRST LEGO League) a few years back. During the same time frame we also put some hours into helping build this: http://www.see-sciencecenter.org/library/pdf/issue7vol2.pdf . I like the idea of the Legos for girls but I think the non-compatible people would bother my kids. These people whining about the new Legos need to get a life. There is a huge benefit to constructing things.

BTW, you can buy specific parts here if you want. I'd like to try the pneumatics. http://www.legoeducation.us/eng/characteristics/productType~LEGO Spare Parts

"Activists take issue with new product line that features taller, thinner, curvy figures"

I wonder if these nutjobs would have been happy if they had made them fat and ugly? These people need to grow a pair. If you get right down to it the reg. Lego's are pretty much geared towards boys but I don't hear anyone yelling about that. I'm 49 and like to build with Legos, never had any as a kid.

I never played with legos as a kid. I used actual lumber (one advantage of having a dad who owned a construction company, always nails, lumber and tools handy. I built my first fort when I was 7. Built it by myself so it didn't have a roof but i did start digging the moat till I realized it was way too much work.

I have been enjoying the legos with my daughter. Its fun and I hope they keep adding new sets to the Lego Friends line as their well worth the money in my opinion :)

I built forts too, but used legos to model and design the fort before building it. At night or on rainy days, I would come up with a plan, show it to my brothers and neighbors, and then modify it, or go silly with future additions that we would add to the lego design that we would add on to the fort in stages.

I even did my two story treehouse in legos!!!!

I just never owned Legos as a kid. Don't remember having too many toys but the ones I did have were Tonka trucks and other toy vehicles. I did play with lincoln logs when I went to my cousins house but that was about it. All in all as a kid I built 4 forts, each one getting bigger and more complex. The second one had a half room on it but the last two had full roofs so you could stay dry. The one still is standing and was turned into a chicken coup. That one is around 22 years old.

Over the last few nights I have seen a few commercials on TV for new Lego sets. Last night I saw the ones for girls. They all looked pretty cool. Or should I get with the 21st century and say Kewl.

We might have seen the commercials because the kids were watching a cartoon with Lego characters. :D

Later,
Dan
