Hi Jim,
Thanks ever so much for your quick & thoughtful reply! I saw it come in on my phone so used it as an excuse to take a break and return to my warm office / left the garage where I am completing the final winter prep to turn autumn tractor into winter machine... this would be the last fix and it's definitely the most challenging of the bunch.
"likely that the leak is from a crush washer or copper washer of some sort."
- yes that was my first guess, so I replaced both bleeder bolt crush washers but per the video, it seems to be under the flange closest to the firewall...
"It is also possible that there might be a crack somewhere."
- or as you say, a crack...
"What you should do is get the make, model and serial number off of the fuel injection pump - as much information as possible. Then "google" this information to see if you can get a manual for this pump (with details of construction and parts etc.). If you can find such a document you should be able to determine what the problem is by studying the drawings and determine what needs changing. Then buy the parts and replace the old parts."
- All I could see is the Zexel name which I googled with
BX2200 but need to dig further on this... as I did not confirm yet, the model number. Was working off this, from Kubota

"You don't say how much of a leak it has. If it is just a few drops now and then, I wouldn't worry too much - just keep a good eye on it."
- It Might be affecting power at crunch times - not sure - but Seems to leak more when priming to start than when running; would prefer to diagnose and repair but do not want to spend a fortune, certainly not want to replace and re-tune as I have no diesel tuning experience.
"Chances are you can fix it yourself if you know how - don't have to go to a specialist. Get the manual and go from there."
- I do all the maintenance and upgrade work on this machine and have limited budget and time now that what appears to be the first real snow is falling as we speak...
