Leaking hydraulic fluid from the mid-PTO

Hello there! Last year, my dealer installed a belly PTO to power a front snow blower. So far, great installation and performance, but I noticed a small hydraulic fluid leaking from that bottom PTO. The 4 bolts holding the assembly all have a dripping nose syndrome! I try to retightens, but those bolts were already really tight. Anybody had that problem? Gasket, seal?

There is an O-ring seal between the OD of the PTO unit and the ID of the hole in the gear case. O-ring may have gotten pinched sliding it into the gear case. Another possibility: If the blot holes are drilled all the way through the gear case so the ends of the bolts are exposed to the fluid, the bolt threads should have some type of sealant on them to keep fluid from working around the threads.

Either way, you will need to drain all fluid to inspect/repair.

Sorry for the delay. Actually, my dealer could have done the job way sooner, but I couldn't free myself. It ended up as a faulty gasket, nothing serious and everything under warranty! A very well train mechanic came over, dismounted the mid PTO, thoroughly check everything, change the gasket and the O-ring. No more leak!

As I read way back on this web site: " Pick a tractor you like, but choose very wisely your dealer"! Ah! wisdoms! It's priceless!
