I ran over a small stump that dented my filter. It didn't leak but after putting on a new one it does. Is there such a thing as a defective filter seal? How about a replacement from the auto parts store? I'm 30 miles from a dealer and would like to try another before hauling it in.

Just got back from Rt 1 Tractor. The fitting above the filter had come loose. He had to take the other filter off to reach it. Wish I had known that it was there, would have saved me a couple of hours. While I was there I picked up a grill guard which would have saved a few dents had I got it sooner.

Never go to a tractor store with money in your pockets.:)
Glad you got it repaired

He's right we take M/C Visa and Discover...save the cash so you wife don't think you spent alot...Then once she sees the bill 30 days later just tell her that the store won't take anything back after 30 days:D:D:D:D

Glad that I'm not the only one to hit that low slung hydro filter. I've replaced not only the expensive filter but the entire aluminum mount that threds onto twice now and a dented filter once. I've logged a few hundred hours since then without issues so it may be avoidable.

Your man shouldn't have had to remove the HST filter though to tighten the fittings up. Oh well, it's all better now.

I spoke too soon, it's leaking again after I dug out a big willow stump. Looks Like I'll have to see if I can tighten it some more. Hope I don't have to go for a new mount. It looks like you might have to remove stuff to get at it.

It's a piece of cake to replace the filter mount. Especially the second time. There are a couple of O-rings in there that need to seal well or they could suck air which is almost worse than leaking fluid.

Have you isolated the leak to a particular joint? You did replace the filter didn't you?
