leaf springs for brush forks?

I got a friend whose father in law,bolts on leaf springs on his bucket to work in the woods,lifting logs etc.I havent seen it,but it sounds pretty good.Iwant all the lift capacity i can,because i got a small KUBOTA,and i want it primarily for moving the odds and ends of stuff i couldnt chip.
any disadvantage to drilling 4 holes in my bucket,and will my bucket get bent?thanks

I can see putting on the leaf springs, coming up to a log lowering the springs point down, lowering and tilting the bucket forward, then lifting up a bit and ..BOING GA Ga ga, off shoots the log to the pile. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously, it would be like mini forks, it could work nicely, not a bad idea.

I have several truck springs for the bucket on my B7100. They do bend a little and may throw a little dirt at times but otherwise work well.

I'd suggest burning a hole rather than drilling them.

You meant burn a hole in the spring,you wasnt referring to the bucket,correct.You cant drill spring steel am i correct?
What size springs are you using and what did they come off from.This will give me an idea of where to get some.I was thinking about 4 feet sticking in front of the bucket,do truck springs come 6 ft long?

Ah, mine are about three feet long and come from the junk steel bin at a truck spring shop. You can drill them but it takes good bits and lots of time off for sharpening.

Mine are drilled.

3 ft long sticking out of your bucket,and all the way to the back of it correct[5 FT TOTAL]? 2 bolts each?
