LB1914 friend left key on_hour meter 400 hours later

When I bought my NH I noticed the hour meter wasn't working. I took apart the panel and then pulled the hour meter to find that the wire had been cut. While looking at the hour meter, I noticed some scratches on some of the numbers....

Bottom line, I found that I could easily roll back hours on the meter with just my fingers, and I'm certain the guy that sold me the tractor found that out as well.

Painful to see what people will do to make a few extra bucks. It's a small world, just doesn't seem worth it.

I wonder if you would have any legal recourse, just the fun of putting him through the pain of small claims court might be worth it.

I ran into the same thing with a used car once. Someone had unplugged the AC compressor at auction to drive the auction price down (one of the bidders). I purchased from a used car guy, when I noticed the AC was not working, he just plugged it back in. claims it was not him who unplugged, but based on how crappy the car was, and his crappy service, would not doubt it was him.
