I try never to disengage the PTO by using the clutch because I hate the racket that the slip clutch makes! Yes, it's considered a "live" PTO, but through the use of a slip clutch rather than dual acting clutch which would not make the noise. Just reach to the side and push back the PTO lever to disengage. Pushing the clutch or turning off the PTO will only allow a spin down of the blades, it won't stop instantly, so keep that in mind in an emergency. It also won't push your tractor from PTO spin if you do push the clutch, but it is going to make the slip clutch chatter! Hope this helps, John
