Landscape Rake For Getting Ready to Seed?

I have about a half acre of ground that was in corn two years ago.... I mowed it last year... it was crab Grass and I'm sure it will come back Crab Grass.... Should I hit it with a landscape rake as early as possible and get it seeded or wait till the GrabGrass starts coming out of dormancy, round up that and then seed?

And will a landscape rake at least scrap up a half inch to an inch down of basiclly dirt, nothing green on it right now?
